Project categories:
Business Improvement District
Client:
Bridgend County Borough Council
Assignment:

CF31 is a Business Improvement District. Its job is to make Bridgend a thriving place to work, live and visit.

The means were commissioned in April 2014 by BCBC to establish a BID in Bridgend Town Centre. This was a consequence of funding made available by the Welsh Government to establish 10 BIDs in Town Centres across Wales.

Timescale:
3 years
Project Description:

The first phase involved a feasibility study to scope out the key issues and explore whether businesses would support a BID in principle. Following a positive outcome, The means took Bridgend through the campaign and ballot phase which successfully established the CF31 BID in August 2016. CF31 started work on 1st October 2016 and will generate £480,000 worth of spending in the town centre over the next 3 years.

The programme will tackle the following key priorities:

• Improving access and parking: relaxing pedestrianisation, developing and promoting parking offers, improving signage and working with public transport providers.
• Better marketing: providing free Wi-Fi, bilk purchasing advertising, events and loyalty initiatives.
• A safer a more welcoming town centre: supporting a coordinated approach between businesses, working in partnership with agencies, tackling dead frontages and empty units, creating a better environment.
• Helping businesses succeed: saving businesses money, developing a retail start-up scheme, forging links with employers on the outskirts of town.

Ballot result: Turnout- 37% Percentage in favour- 65.6% Percentage of aggregate rateable value in favour- 67%
