This project looked to bring residents together and enable them to make improvements to the communal areas on their estates.
The project was initially launched as a competition, whereby we invited residents to get in touch and tell us what areas on their estates needed some extra care. We used the competition structure as a way to identify and pinpoint local need. On selection of the three estates, we worked closely with residents and experts to devise a plan of action.
We sourced the tools, materials, sponsorship money and recruited local volunteers to help out on the day. We liaised with the council to get their support in terms of the maintenance aspects. And, with the help of residents, we flyered all the residents on the estates encouraging them to get involved. Then we hosted the three community spring cleaning and gardening days; full of collective action, neighbourliness, food and music!
