To develop a BID for Vauxhall
Employers in the Vauxhall area of London now have a flagship organisation to protect and enhance their interests. The ‘Vauxhall One’ Business Improvement District (BID) was approved at ballot on Friday 24th February.
The new organisation will invest upwards of £4m in Vauxhall over the next five years. Its four themes are Vauxhall Safe (reducing fear of crime), Vauxhall Change (improving public realm), Vauxhall Day & Night (promoting the area’s shops, hotels, restaurants & clubs) and Vauxhall Together (engaging with the local residential community). Following the completion of a full feasibility study, the Means was commissioned by Lambeth Council to run the BID campaign for Vauxhall.
Key to the success of the campaign was the creation of an active steering group that featured a diverse range of members from local organisations. The group oversaw a comprehensive business engagement programme, which was undertaken by the Means and led to a positive result at the ballot.
The Vauxhall One BID was overwhelmingly approved by 83 per cent of voters and achieved a 91 per cent vote in favour by rateable value.
The means are now delivering senior management services to the new BID.
