Artisanal food is increasingly popular, with a growing demand for local food and products with ‘provenance’ linked to local identity. In the background this is changing the skills and knowledge required throughout the food supply chain.
The means was commissioned by a college in Wales to engage with businesses, including entrepreneurs, growers, manufacturers and consumer facing retailers and restaurants about their skills needs. Given the growing importance of the sector to the economy and to local identity, the project aims to identify shared needs and opportunities for the education sector’s offer to support its growth.
